The road over the Shaumyan Pass remains the shortest route from the North-Caucasian republics to the capital of the 2014 Winter Olympics.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since January 7 Sochi is under enhanced security measures for the period of the 2014 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. As for the alternative route to Sochi from the city of Maikop passing through the Shaumyan Pass, as it became known to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, there were no official announcements about any restriction of the traffic on this route.
Meanwhile, this road is fit not only for residents of the Stavropol Territory, where since January 9, security measures were enhanced after a series of murders of car drivers, but also for motorists from Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, Chechnya and Dagestan.
