In Armenia, Euromaidan supporters call on Ukrainian authorities to stop violence

On January 24, the participants of the rally in Yerevan in support of the Ukrainian Euromaidan voiced against the use of violence against protesters in the cities of Ukraine and urged the law enforcers "to join the people."

The rally in Yerevan attracted about 100 people and was dedicated to commemorate those killed in clashes with the police in Euromaidan, including an Armenian Sergey Nigoyan.

Armenian residents are well aware of what is happening in Ukraine, because they themselves faced similar violence on March 1, 2008, Isabella Sarkisyan, a participant of the action and a sociologist, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"Today, for me it does not matter what had caused this situation in Ukraine; it's important that people are killed there and repressions continue," she said.

"I sympathize the Ukrainian people and support their decision; so I'm here at least to support them in this way," Ermine Virabyan, another participant of the action in Yerevan, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

She believes that an event like Euromaidan should happen in Armenia, which also "needs a revolution."
