Suspected militants killed in Makhachkala are identified
Three suspected members of illegal armed formations (IAFs), killed during a special operation in Dagestan's capital, have been preliminary identified. This was reported by a source from the Makhachkala law enforcement bodies.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that during the special operation in Makhachkala, which was started in the afternoon of January 25, three suspected militants were killed. According to the preliminary police information, they were members of the "Buynaksk" militant grouping.
According to the source, the killed men were identified as 24-year-old Gamzat Amirkhanov (Khamza), 25-year-old Zaur Askhabomarov, and 35-year-old Sharip Magomedov.
The source has noted that law enforcers tried to negotiate with the suspects. "One of the militants was ready to surrender; however, his accomplices opened fire again and started throwing grenades, attempting to break through the cordon. One of the militants was killed, and the second one the suspect who wanted to surrender was shot dead by his accomplice," the source from the law enforcement bodies has stated.
During the shootout three fighters of Special Rapid Response Unit (known as SOBR) were wounded, and a survived suspected militant was killed.
