Ingushetia: refugees plan to raise their housing problems on Olympics starting day
The refugees living in Ingushetia intend to hold, on the opening day of the Olympic Games in Sochi – on February 7 – a flash mob, aiming to draw the authorities' attention to their unresolved housing problems, said Zarema Evloeva, one of the organizers of the action.
According to her story, she and other would-be protesters – refugees from Chechnya and North Ossetia – have been living in Ingushetia for 15-20 years; however, the solution to their problems is at standstill.
Another participant of the flash mob, who presented herself as Asya, has added that their repeated protests in the form of hunger strikes gave no result. "Even if the authorities had to pay attention to us – it had no effect on refugees' problems," she said.
"On February 7, we, refugees, living in different temporary accommodation centres (TACs) across Ingushetia, and those forced to rent apartments, will send black balloons into the sky. Federal authorities found huge money for the Olympics; their regional colleagues also don't , regional and do not skimp on great spending for the sake of showing off, but nobody thinks that there are thousands of people in the country, who simply have nowhere to live," said the refugee.
