Ingushetia: ten thousand people come to welcome Olympic Flame
On Tuesday, in Magas, the capital of Ingushetia, about ten thousand people welcomed the Olympic Torch Relay in the main street. They came from many villages and towns of the republic.
The arrival day of the Olympic Flame was declared a day-off in the republic.
"I want to assure you that nobody was brought to the event by force. On the contrary, over the past few days people constantly called and asked for additional invitation tickets. People willing to come to Magas from towns and villages could also come today to their local administrations and come from there to the route of the Olympic Flame," said Timur Bokov, the Head of Media Relations of the Administration of the head of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov.
After Magas, the Olympic symbol will be brought by a motorcade to North Ossetia.
In the opinion of Magomed Khazbiev, an Ingush opposition leader, organizing festivities in the region, which has so many unresolved problems, is unacceptable.
"Organizing holidays in Northern Caucasus, when mothers, wives and children are all in tears, is unacceptable. We must first establish the due order in the Caucasus, and not distract people by flames," says the oppositionist.
Let us remind you that the Olympic Flame began its route in the North-Caucasian Federal District on January 23 in the Stavropol Territory.
