Relatives of detainees in Pyatigorsk explosion case ask rights defenders for protection
Relatives of the residents of the Khasavyurt District, who had been detained after the explosion in front of the GIBDD (traffic police) building in Pyatigorsk, have filed an application to the HRC "Memorial" in Dagestan for assistance in establishing their whereabouts and admission of advocates to them, said Elena Denisenko, the HRC's lawyer in Dagestan.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 27, 2013, a car explosion in front of the GIBDD building in Pyatigorsk killed three people and wounded three more. On January 10, the Russa's National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) said that Murad Ataev, Ramazan Khalizov, Vladimir Khalizov Shamil, Abdulazizov, Shamil Gazimagomedov and Magomed Ibragimov were detained in relation to the case. On January 26, their advocates complained that they cannot meet their clients.
According to Elena Denisenko, relatives of the detained Shamil Gazimagomedov, Shamil Abdulazizov and Magomed Ibragimov brought their applications to the HRC "Memorial".
The relatives pointed out that they had learned about the accusations against their relatives from TV stories.
According to Abdulaziz Abdulazizov, power structures of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) are intentionally hiding the whereabouts of his son from the advocates; and during that time he can be "tortured with aim to force him to sign the necessary evidence."
