Dagestani police obliges Salafi believers to report their travels
Policemen of the Karabudakhkent ROVD (District Interior Division) of Dagestan are collecting written obligations from the members of the local Salafi that they undertake to notify the law enforcement authorities about their intention to travel outside the region, said Elena Denisenko, the employee of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" in Dagestan. The receipts are collected within the plan of routine preventive measures, said the police spokesman.
"I have on hand such list from Gubden containing 64 persons. I don't know who compiles them; it's clear that some power structures," Elena Denisenko told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. She treats these police actions as a flagrant violation of the right to privacy.
"I was told that a girl tried to go to Rostov-on-Don for treatment, but they didn't let her out, although she had a medical direction on her," said Elena Denisenko.
"Grave terrorist crimes are committed in the territory of the Russian Federation, including diversions and terror acts. In this regard, there is an order that the Dagestanis, registered at the police, warned us about their intention to travel outside the region. There's no other purpose or intent to infringe on someone's rights," said, in his turn, the boss of the on duty unit of the Karabudakhkent ROVD of the MIA of Dagestan.
According to his story, these actions "have nothing to do" with the Olympics and "will continue after the Games."
