Russia need no NATO's help in ensuring Olympic safety, experts believe
In the opinion of First-Rank Captain Konstantin Sivkov, Doctor of Military Sciences and Vice-President of the Academy of Geopolitical Problems, the statement about no need of NATO's help in securing the Sochi Olympics is logical and reasonable. Sergey Melkov, Doctor of Political Sciences and Co-Chair of the Association of Military Political Scientists of Russia, also believes that Russia is capable to ensure the safety of spectators and athletes.
Let us remind you that on January 28, the Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that his country needs no NATO's help to ensure the safety of the Sochi Olympics. For this purpose, the security headquarters, where the participating countries of the Olympic Games are represented, is quite enough.
Russia can take help from individual states, but it will recourse to NATO only under a threat to its statehood, Konstantin Sivkov said.
Russia itself is capable to set up cooperation of the respective agencies, ensure a decent reception and protect spectators and athletes, Sergey Melkov said in his turn.
The above headquarters operating under the auspices of the FSB, coupled with the internal troops and policemen, is sufficient to ensure security at the Games, believes Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Perendjiev, an expert of the above Association of Military Political Scientists, Associate Professor of Political Science and Sociology at the Plekhanov Russian Economic University.
Let us remind you that the States are actively offering their assistance in securing the Games.
