Storm consequences eliminated in Sochi
Volunteers, rescuers from the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) and local residents have completed liquidating the consequences of the storm that struck Sochi at night of January 31.
Let us remind you that at that night the 5-point-strong storm flooded the seashore reinforcement, Tsimlyanskaya Street and more than ten households.
Galina Kirichenko, a resident of Tsimlyanskaya Street, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the restoration works were over after the midday on January 31.
"It took six hours for volunteers to put the embankment in order. They removed the stones brought by the sea to the embankment and the sand from the tiles; and stuck back the uprooted pine trees. I told them that the trees would soon die, because they planted them into salt water, to which they replied that these were not their problems. They did what they were told to," said Galina Kirichenko, adding that residents themselves clean their yards.
Let us remind you that last spring and autumn storms destroyed the seashore protection facilities in the Imereti Valley.
Earlier, Sochi hydraulic experts warned that Olympic construction will tell negatively on the coastal strip.
