At trial of Politkovskaya's murder case, jurors watch video from the doorway camera
Today, the prosecutors showed the jury of the Moscow City Court (MCC) the video record from the surveillance camera at the entrance to the house of the observer of the "Novaya Gazeta" Anna Politkovskaya, who was assassinated in the fall of 2006.
The court session also questioned Anna Marinina, a neighbour of the murdered journalist, who gave a detailed explanation on the location of the doorway, where the killer shot Politkovskaya dead.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that Anna Marinina gave her explanations while watching the video from the case files that the state prosecutor Maria Semenenko demonstrated to the witness and the jury.
The video clearly shows that the witness who was recorded at entering the house easily opens the front door, while the man (according to investigators, it was the defendant Rustam Makhmudov – note of the "Caucasian Knot") opened the door by a few seconds longer.
The state prosecutor also invited the court to see the video records made a few days before the murder of Anna Politkovskaya.
According to investigators, the video records made on October 5 and 7 show one and the same man – the suspected gunman Rustam Makhmudov.
The next court session is scheduled for February 4 at 11:00 a.m. Moscow time.
