Trunov: refusal of Krasnodar teachers to attend Torch Relay may affect their future work
The initiative to involve Krasnodar educators in the Olympic Torch Relay is a recommendation, but a refusal to go may have consequences for a teacher, said the lawyer Igor Trunov.
Let us remind you that on February 1, Alexei Navalny, a blogger and the leader of the unregistered "People's Alliance" Party, spread information that the authorities of Krasnodar asked the bosses of the Department for Education to ensure the presence of 30% of city educators at the celebrations of the Olympic Torch Relay on February 4.
Teachers are not legally obliged to go to the festivities, said Igor Trunov, but there is a shadow side – "a list and a pencil." It is clear that those who wouldn't obey will be "labelled".
"We see an application of the so-called method of repressions, which was invented in the Soviet Union. In this way they formed May-day demonstrations and November 7 pickets," Mr Trunov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to his story, there is a large range of influences on teachers: their working hours are decreased, causing falls in salaries; they are appointed to be on duty on holidays; they are deprived of bonuses or just sacked.
