Sochi: prosecution witness in Demerchyan's asserts that she never signed interrogation protocol
On February 4, at the trial held in Sochi on the case of Mardiros Demerchyan, a builder of Olympic facilities, accused of slandering the police in his allegations of torture, the doctor Olga Krymova, a prosecution witness, was given the floor. She said that she did not sign the interrogation protocol, which had been submitted to the court, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the police detained Demerchyan in Sochi on June 12, 2013. On the following day he was hospitalized from the police station. The builder said that policemen had beaten and tortured him. Later, it became known that a criminal case on false accusation was opened against Demerchyan.
According to the witness Olga Krymova, she examined Demerchyan when he came to her with the direction from the OVD (Interior Division) "on the fact of the teeth knocked out by the police."
"The signature under the testimony against Mardiros Demerchyan that I had allegedly given to investigator Artyom Semenets is not mine," doctor Krymova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent after the session.
"The judge read out allegedly my testimony saying that Demerchyan had no teeth before visiting the police station, since they had been knocked out long before that. I explained to the court that I never gave this testimony," she said. "I'm ready to undergo a handwriting examination and to apply to law enforcement bodies on falsification of documents on my behalf. This is a serious issue."
