Source from RBD "Chernomorye": substitute of Kurortny Avenue in Sochi not yet commissioned
Contrary to the authorities of Sochi, the highway aimed to substitute the Kurortny Avenue has not been officially put into operation, said a source from the Road-Building Directorate (RBD) "Chernomorye" (Black Sea Area), a branch of the "Rosavtodor" (Russian Federal Road Agency).
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 3, the Administration of the City-Resort Sochi announced an official opening of the two-way traffic along the substitute of the Kurortny Avenue – one of the major objects of the Olympic infrastructure.
However, as the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the RBD "Chernomorye", the substitute road, the construction of which took in total about 100 billion roubles, is not ready yet.
"Despite the fact that the operative traffic is fully open, the road has not yet been put into operation. It's hard to say when it will happen," said a source from the RBD, who preferred to remain anonymous.
Valery Suchkov, one of the founders of the Public Institution "Town-Planning Council of City-Resort Sochi", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that until the Mayor of Sochi signs the resolution about the commissioning of the new road, it does not formally exist. In his opinion, the opening of the operative traffic along the substitute of Kurortny Avenue without putting it into operation is a crime.
