Rally against "residence-based discrimination" is scheduled in Sochi
On February 16, in Sochi, activists of the movement "Law and Order" and "Yabloko" Party intend to hold a rally "against residence-based discrimination of Sochi citizens", and on environmental and socio-economic problems. On February 5, they notified the Mayor of Sochi about their intention.
The rally is planned on February 16 at the place, allocated for public protests during the Olympics, namely, in the Park of the 50th Anniversary of Victory, in Zheleznodorozhnaya Street in Khosta. The lawyer Roman Shikarev, the leader of the "Law and Order", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the expected number of participants is 500.
"This is the additional financial and unjustified burden on Sochi residents, applied through increased public transport fares and utility tariffs, and environmental problems caused by stupid construction. Moreover, one of the demands brought to the rally is liberation of the environmental activist Evgeny Vitishko and cancellation of repressions applied against environmentalists and other activists of Sochi and Krasnodar Territory," Roman Shikarev gave his comment on the aim of the rally.
He stressed that "the public event has no relation to the 2014 Olympic Games."
