Oreshkin and Nemtsov recommend security services to focus on physical rather than political security of the Olympic Games in Sochi

The refusals of the Organizing Committee (OC) "Sochi-2014" to issue fan's passports are political in nature and do not contribute to security of citizens, as politician Boris Nemtsov and political analyst Dmitry Oreshkin have stated.

According to Boris Nemtsov, the co-chair of the RPR-PARNAS Party, he knows about five cases, when fan's passports were not issued.

"They use it not as a tool to combat terrorist threats, but as a tool to combat the opposition. Several of our activists, including Nikolai Levshits and Andrei Barin, have failed to receive fan's passports, because they are members of human rights and oppositional organizations," said Nemtsov.

The Russian political analyst Dmitry Oreshkin shares the view of Boris Nemtsov, noting that security services in Sochi should ensure physical, not political, security.

"Security services are well aware that they are responsible, directly or indirectly, also for political security. If an LGBT-activist arrives in Sochi with a fan's passport and starts waving a rainbow flag on the stalls, those in charge of security will see it as a failure, same as throwing fireball or a bomb in the toilet," Mr Oreshkin has stressed in his conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
