Astrakhan authorities ban rally in memory of Volgograd victims
After the intervention of the local Prosecutor's Office, the Administration of Astrakhan has refused to sanction a rally in memory of the victims of the recent terror acts committed in Volgograd, and recalled the earlier issued sanction, said Igor Stenin, the organizer of the rally.
According to his story, the commemoration rally to mark 40 days after the terror acts was scheduled for today at 6:00 p.m. Moscow time. On January 27 the Mayoralty sanctioned the event, but on February 5 suddenly changed its mind.
"I received a Mayoralty's resolution that the January 27 permit on the action to take place on February 6 was cancelled, because of the protest moved by the Prosecutor's Office," Igor Stenin told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"We were not offered any other place or other time – just banned; moreover, it was right on the day of the event. We have no choice but to write letters to the Russia's General Prosecutor's Office and the Presidential Administration; although we understand the futility of these letters. We are told about respecting the laws by those who violate them themselves," said the organizer.
