Stavropol Territory: relatives of Imam of Mirny report his disappearance
Shamil Khubiev, the Imam of the swelling settlement of Mirny, Stavropol Territory, disappeared on February 4; and his family still does not know what has happened to him, one of the relatives said today.
"On February 4 he was called from the Muftiat of the Stavropol Territory and invited to a meeting in Pyatigorsk. Around two o'clock in the afternoon, Shamil went there in his Opel car. Since then, nothing is known about him," a relative named Abubekir told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The family began worrying about Khubiev's absence in the evening on February 4, when he did not return home, and his phone was switched off. Later, it turned out that he had never reached the Muftiat.
"In the morning on February 5 Shamil's father told that the empty Imam's car was found in the Kislovodsk-Pyatigorsk highway," said the relative.
He added that Khubiev is a native of the village of Uchkeken, Malokarachay District of Karachay-Cherkessia; he has worked as the village Imam for more than six years. "There is no idea of what could happen with Shamil. He was a sociable, peace-loving man; he had no enemies," said Abubekir.
