In Armenia, opponents of new pension system called on employers to stop deducing part of their salaries
In Armenia, employers withhold 5 percent of employees' salaries, as required by the new pension system, despite the fact that the Constitutional Court (CC) of the country has suspended the reform and has not yet made its final decision on the matter, participants of the today's march in Yerevan have stated. They demanded that employers adhere to the CC's position in this matter.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 24 the Armenian CC decided to suspend the law on the new pension system, demanding to pay every month 5 percent of each salary to the pension fund. The CC plans to consider the claim on recognizing the new law unconstitutional on May 28.
The today's march held under the motto "Conquest of the law" was attended by several thousands of people.
The marchers made stops at the building of the Ministry of Finance, the main block of the Government, the Central Bank and the building of State Revenue Commission. They demanded not to apply pressure on the employees of these bodies forcing them to deduct the above five percent.
