Sochi authorities offer to hold meeting of activists with officials instead of rally against "residence-based discrimination"
Deputy Sochi Mayor Victor Filonov has suggested Roman Shikarev and Vladimir Kimaev, the organizers of the rally against "discrimination of Sochi townspeople based on their residence", to hold a conversation with governmental officials, the activists have reported themselves.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that activists of the movement "Law and Order" and the "Yabloko" Party planned to hold the above rally in Sochi on February 16 and also discuss environmental and socio-economic problems.
"On February 6 in the morning we received a call from Natalia Mazhanova, the head of the department for relations with public associations of the Sochi City Administration, and invited to come to talk with the Deputy Mayor Victor Filonov," Roman Shikarev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to his story, Filonov tried to convince them that, instead of a rally it is better to hold dialogue of the initiative and the authorities, raise problems and offer constructive solutions.
"We gave our 'yes' to Filonov, but the dialogue should pass in the presence of the media. He promised to think it over and give us an answer," said Shikarev.
