KChR: three policemen suspected of causing Borlakov's death arrested for two months
The Cherkessk City Court has ruled to arrest the policemen of the Ust-Djegutin ROVD (District Interior Division) of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR), suspected of intentional infliction grave bodily harm that caused the death of a detainee Murat Borlakov, for the time of the preliminary investigation, said a source from the court.
The defendants face up to 15 years in prison.
So far, the republic's Investigating Committee and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) have not commented on the reasons of Murat Borlakov's death.
According to one of the versions, Borlakov and two his friends were taken to the ROVD on suspicion of robbery.
According to another version, which in referred to as the "folk" one in the KChR, Borlakov with his friends stopped the sale of the drug named "Lirika", which is regarded by its pharmacological action as antiepileptic and anticonvulsant drug, by pharmacies of Cherkessk.
"The other day they entered a pharmacy and took out boxes with 'Lirika', and then destroyed them. The pharmacy is owned by the wife of one of the operative agents of the MIA, who reported the incident to her husband – this was the start of the story," a local resident, who asked not to name him, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
