Guests of Sochi Olympics note good coordination of the police
During the Olympics, Sochi is guarded by tens of thousands of policemen recruited from many regions of Russia; however, the security measures have not yet led to queues at inspection points, said the guests of the city interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The traffic at key intersections and city streets is monitored by GIBDD (road police) units; while a marked accumulation of policemen was observed only in the area of the railway station, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports. Policemen suggest passengers, which terminals are quicker for passing the inspection. No queues and hustle are observed. Policemen are assisted by employees of the Organizing Committee (OC) of the Olympics, equipped with walkie-talkies.
Yuri Trefilov, a resident of Saint Petersburg, is positively assessing the work of the police. "The safety measures are applied correctly: policemen with their truncheons don't catch your eye at every step, but it is clear that there are people who duly look after the state of thing," said Yuri.
Policemen themselves refuse to talk to reporters, referring to the instruction. The press services of the Krasnodar Territorial and Sochi City Interior Ministries refrain from making any comments.
