Krasnodar Court upholds punishment to Vitishko as colony-settlement
The Krasnodar Territorial Court has dismissed the complaint lodged by Evgeny Vitishko, an activist of the "Ecological Watch for North Caucasus" (EcoWatch), against the change of his conditional verdict by the real deprivation of freedom in the case of damaging the fence of the so-called "Tkachov's summer cottage".
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in June 2012 Evgeny Vitishko and Suren Gazaryan, another activist of the "EcoWatch", were sentenced to three years of conditional imprisonment. The court found them guilty of damaging the fence enclosing the cottage belonging, according to the ecologists, the Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Alexander Tkachov. On December 20, 2013, the court changed the Vitishko's conditional imprisonment to real one. This decision was appealed against by the ecologist's defence.
Now, as the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports, the above Court has upheld the decision to send the ecologist to a colony-settlement.
