Whereabouts of two Magomedovs detained in Dagestan still unknown, advocate says
Relatives of the natives of Dagestan Shamsudin and Oka Magomedov, detainees on February 12, have addressed the Dagestani Regional Public Organization (DRPO) "Pravizaschita" (Advocacy) asking to help in stopping the harassment by law enforcement bodies. Their advocate said that he could not meet them. The Dagestani MIA denies the detention of the Magomedovs.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 12 the house of Shamsudin Magomedov was searched. According to Israfil Gadadov, a lawyer from the Bar "Kavkaz", who represents the interests of Shamsudin, some illegal items were found during the search. After the search, Shamsudin Magomedov (born in 1964) and his sons Islam Magomedov (born in 1993) and Ibrakhim Magomedov (born in 1996) were detained by law enforcers. On the same day, Shamsudin's nephew Oka Magomedov (born in 1980) was detained.
Yesterday, Ibrakhim and Islam were released, but the fate of Shamsudin and Oka Magomedov is unknown until now, Israfil Gadadov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. The lawyer is confident that the detainees are held at the Centre for Combating Extremism (CCE).
According to Kurban Magomedov, who is Shamsudin's brother and father of Oka Magomedov, in the course of the search, in one of the non-residential rooms, under the sofa, they found a grenade with a fuse. The grenade was planted, Kurban Magomedov has stated.
On November 5, 2013, Shamsudin Magomedov, a resident of the village of Shamkhal, the Kirov District of Makhachkala, reported that the police forced his family to give DNA bioassays. Magomedov then suggested that the pressure on him was caused by the fact that he is a Salafi.
Magomedov has added that his son, his brother and his nephews are "the observing Muslims, not engaged in any illegal activities, and had never been brought to criminal and administrative responsibility."
