Students from Syria detained after anti-Olympic action in Nalchik deported from Russia

With regard to the three students from Syria, detained on February 7 in Nalchik, near the place of the action against the Olympics in Sochi, a decision was made to deport them from Russia, said one of the students. The public organization "Peryt" is preparing to appeal against the deportation.

Let us remind you that on February 7 in Nalchik, the police prevented an action undertaken in protest against the Olympics in Sochi, opened on the same day. According to the bloggers, among those detained there were people who had nothing to do with the action. According to the republic's prosecutor's office, 29 people were detained in total. Most of the detainees were released on February 8, and as of February 14, four activists are still kept at the Nalchik IVS (temporary detention facility).

On the day of the above action three students from Syria were on their way to the public organization "Peryt", which deals with the affairs of compatriots. The office of the organization is located near the Mary Square, where the organizers tried to hold a picket, Abaza Nart, a student of the 4th year at the Kabardino-Balkarian State University, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

When the police began detaining the protesters, the students occurred to be among the detainees.

On February 10, the Nalchik City Court decided to deport from Russia two students of the Kabardino-Balkarian State Agrarian University – Yaser Stas and Yt Akhman Ayal, who had, as Abaza Nart explained, some problems with documents. In particular, one of them had his passport at the extension procedure at the Embassy of Syria.
