26 people continue hunger strike in Volgograd
As reported by Elena Samoshina, a hunger-striker, the action in Volgograd is continued by 26 parents of many children and parents of children with disabilities. Today, the protesters were visited by Igor Komissarov, Senior Assistant to the Chairman of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) Alexander Bastrykin and State Duma Deputy Dmitry Konkov.
"When asked about what they know at the State Duma about the Volgograd hunger strike, the MP Konkov said that there was initial information about the political nature of the action; however, later, with receiving more detailed data, the viewpoint has changed – it became clear that families with many children in the region are socially disadvantaged. The MP said that many of his fellow party members in the faction of the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) Party have supported the Volgograd hunger-strikers," Georgy Goryachevskiy, another hunger-striker, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
Let us remind you that on February 10 the hunger-strikers noted that their appeals failed to reach the federal centre due to poor coverage of their hunger strike by federal media. They also demanded to bring the first persons of the region to solving their problems.
Meanwhile, today, the press service of the Governor has announced the organization of the "parents' day" by the regional government – a topical reception day for parents of large families and parents of disabled children, and about a free allocation of 147 land plots in the Gorodische District for large families.
