Azerbaijani GPO inquires circumstances of Ismayilova's meeting with US Senate staff

The General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of Azerbaijan has questions to Khadija Ismayilova, an investigative journalist and a collaborator for the Azerbaijani service of Radio Liberty in connection with her meeting this January with two employees of the staff of the US Senate. Khadija Ismayilova said that during her interrogation on February 20, the investigator asked her questions about her meeting with the Americans.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Khadija Ismayilova figures as a witness in the criminal case instituted in connection with the material posted by her on the Facebook.

"Today, most of the questioning was about my meeting with the staff of the US Senate in the "Art Garden" Restaurant, which has nothing to do with this criminal case," said Ismayilova.

"The investigator said that he received information that I had transferred some state secrets to the Americans in the restaurant. I replied that I didn't, because I know no state secrets," she added.

According to the journalist, she was again summoned to the GPO on February 21.
