Chechen MIA: no terror acts committed in 2013 in Chechnya
Ruslan Alkhanov, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Chechnya, asserts that in 2013 not a single terror act was committed in the republic's territory. During this year, law enforcement bodies killed 28 militants; other 54 members of the armed underground and their helpers were detained or persuaded to surrender, said the MIA.
"Last year, no major terror acts were committed in the territory of our republic; primarily, because of successful activities of law enforcement bodies. During this period, we liquidated 28 active members of bandit formations, including field commanders Hussein and Muslim Gakaev, Adam Khushalaev, Tamerlan Lorsanov and Rustam Saliev. In the course of search operations, we detained 37 militants and urged 17 other former militants and their supporters to surrender," a source from the MIA told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The fact that in 2013 Chechen law enforcement bodies managed not to admit any terror act was confirmed on February 20 by General Ruslan Alkhanov, the head of the Chechen MIA, in his report.
