In Sochi, 75-year-old Lydia Lepsveridze held protest in city centre

On Monday, Lydia Lepsveridze held a protest in Sochi against the decisions of the courts, which deprived her of housing and fined her after the picket she held near the residence of the Russian President.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 12, 2013, the police detained Lydia Lepsveridze during her solo picket near the residence of the President of the Russian Federation named "Bocharov Ruchei". The woman tried to draw the authorities' attention to the illegal, in her opinion, court decisions, which deprived her of housing under the claim of relatives of her deceased husband. On December 16, Lepsveridze was found guilty under Point 5, Article 20.2 of the Russian Administrative Code (order of organizing public events) and fined by 10,000 roubles.

According to Lydia Lepsveridze, on Monday, during her protest in the "Riviera" Park, a district policeman Alexander Lyutik, came up to her to ask about her actions.

"I told him that I was distributing an article about myself, which is not prohibited by the law," said Lydia Lepsveridze.

The women will continue disseminating leaflets with the articles about her situation, published by the "Caucasian Knot".
