Leader of HRC "ROD" in Volgograd reports search of his flat
On Thursday, employees of the Centre to Combat Extremism (CCE) held a search of the apartment of Mikhail Yassin, the head of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "ROD".
"Operative agents of the CCE came to my home, as they said, on the instruction of the Voronezh Investigating Committee to take my testimony as a witness," he told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. According to his story, their questions concerned the events on Novokhopyorsk on June 22, 2013.
According to Mr Yassin, he had been invited to the rally by its organizers, in case there were problems with the police and in need of defending of detainees.
"In fact, I think, they just checked whether I was in Russia or in Ukraine," suggested Yassin, adding that, according to his version, "there is an order of central authorities to check the so-called 'extremists'."
The HRC "ROD" positions itself as a "Russian human rights organization". "We are providing legal and information assistance to victims of errors and abuses of law enforcement bodies, victims of interethnic conflicts, and to Russian nationalists persecuted for their beliefs," says the website of the HRC.
