Sochi Court finds Mayoralty's inaction at considering rally notification illegal
Roman Shikarev, the organizer of the rally against discrimination of Sochi residents has received a court ruling on his complaint against inaction of the city administration (Mayoralty) at considering his notification about a public action. The Court has found the complaint reasonable and ordered the officials to eliminate the violations.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Roman Shikarev, the leader of the public movement "Law and Order", and Vladimir Kimaev, the head of the Sochi local branch of the "Yabloko" Party, applied for a rally to be held on February 16 against discrimination of Sochi residents by the place of residence and with the aim to discuss environmental and socio-economic problems. The Sochi Mayoralty refused to sanction the action and demanded to reduce the number of planned participants from 500 to 100 people.
According to Shikarev, he intends to demand financial compensation from the bureaucrats after the court decision comes into force. In its turn, the Mayoralty said that it might lodge a complaint against the ruling.
