Grozny hosts premiere of film "February" about 1944 deportation
The first show of the film "February" by Ruslan Magomadov about the deportation of the Chechen-Ingush people took place on February 28 in Grozny. The film screenings will be held in all major towns in Chechnya, as well as at international film festivals, said the spokesman for the Ministry of Culture of the Republic.
The "February" tells a story about two brothers during the deportation of Chechens to Kazakhstan and Central Asia in 1944. The stars of the film were not professional actors but local residents. Among those filmed were the elders-survivors of the deportation.
It was expected that the "February" and another film – "Ashes" – about the events related to the deportation, would be screened on February 23, the 70th anniversary of the deportation, but this has not happened, Marina T., an employee of one of republic's agencies, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
Earlier, Magomadov made the documentary "House" (TS1a) about a man who stayed in Grozny during the warfare, despite a threat of death. The film was presented at various international film festivals in Russia, Austria, USA, Czech Republic, Great Britain, Iraq, Brazil and Germany, where it won six awards.
