South Ossetia raises money to help Ukrainian "Berkut" fighters
An initiative group of citizens of South Ossetia intends to open a bank account for accumulating funds for financial support of the fighters of the disbanded Ukrainian special detachment "Berkut", Anatoly Tadtaev, the head of the initiative group, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"We've all watched in TV footage the humiliation of 'Berkut' fighters, who tried to enforce the law and guard the peace of their fellow citizens," Tadtaev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on February 28.
He noted that currently the group has about 30 members. This list is not final, as, according to his story, the number of applicants is on the rise. The raised funds will be distributed through Russian funds or directly to former "Berkut" fighters.
