CPFPA member killed in Azerbaijan

Aidyn Khalilov, a member of the oppositional Classic Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (CPFPA), was killed this afternoon in the village of Garachala, Salyan District of the country.

On March 4, at about 2:00 p.m., a black Toyota Land Cruiser Prado drove up to the house of the 50-year-old Aidyn Khalilov. Khalilov was called to the car; and he got into it, Adalyat Yusubov, the head of the Salyan district CPFPA organization, said, referring to the eyewitnesses of the event.

"At the distance of 500 meters from Khalilov's house, on the highway Salyan-Shirvan, the bloodied body of Aidyn was found. Gunshot and knife wounds were found on the body. According to eyewitnesses, after the body was thrown out of the car, the Prado ran over it," said Yusubov.

He could not guess about possible motives behind the murder, because recently Khalilov took no active part in oppositional actions. Yusubov is not inclined to see any political nature in the crime, but finds it difficult to suggest any other version.
