Anti-Israel protesters detained in Baku

In the morning on July 25, a group of believers held a protest action in front of the Israeli Embassy in Baku in connection with the military actions of the Israeli Army in the Gaza Strip. The action organized by the Islamic Party of Azerbaijan (IPA) was dispersed by the police; and many protesters were detained.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that at about 10:00 a.m. local time more than 50 believers, including women, gathered in front of the Hyatt Regency Hotel, where Israeli Embassy is located.

The participants of the action held posters: "Stop massacres of Muslims in Gaza!", "Death to Israeli regime that committed international crimes!" "International community, condemn aggression of Zionist regime!" and others.

However, the reinforced police units, who had arrived at the embassy well in advance, began immediately dispersing the protesters. As a result, more than 20 people were detained.

"We held a peaceful protest action outside the Israeli Embassy. We peacefully expressed our solidarity with the Palestinian people, who have been subjected to Israeli aggression for decades," said Akif Geidarli, the deputy chairman of the IPA for political matters.

He has treated the policemen's action as "a violation of the freedom of assembly."
