Advocate Natalia Fedorenko released in courtroom

In Novorossiysk, a court found Natalia Fedorenko, an advocate of blogger Vadim Kharchenko*, guilty of violating privacy and banned her from practicing law for two years. Natalia Fedorenko was also sentenced to community service. Advocate Alexei Vozbranny announced the defence’s intention to file an appeal against the court’s decision.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on October 1, Natalia Fedorenko, a defender of blogger Vadim Kharchenko*, was detained right at a court hearing in Novorossiysk, where a criminal case instituted against her for violating the privacy of a judge was being heard. Natalia Fedorenko was placed in custody, although the article under which she was charged did not stipulate such a pre-trial restriction measure. On October 2, the defence lodged an appeal against the Natalia Fedorenko’s arrest, but the Novorossiysk court of appeal did not grant the complaint.

Vadim Kharchenko*, a client of advocate Natalia Fedorenko, has been recognized as a political prisoner. On September 26, the court closed his trial after the media began covering court hearings in his case.
