MfE: Rostov Region accommodates more than 40,000 Ukrainian refugees

The number of refugees from Ukraine, who stay in the Rostov Region since the conflict began, has exceeded 40,000 people. This was reported by the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) for the Rostov Region.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at the meeting with foreign journalists held on July 9, Vasily Golubev, Governor of the Rostov Region, reported that starting from the early June, about 200,000 Ukrainian citizens arrived to the Rostov Region. Vasily Golubev has called the situation with refugees a humanitarian catastrophe. On July 22, at the conference call with the Russian Prime Minister, Vasily Golubev asked Dmitry Medvedev to resettle greater number of the Ukrainian refugees to other regions of Russia.

According to the MfE for the Rostov Region, only during the recent day, the Rostov Region has accommodated 683 people, including 257 children. "In total, we have accommodated 40,200 people, including 13,200 children," the RIA "Novosti" quotes today the MfE as reporting.

According to the MfE for the Rostov Region, more than 32,000 Ukrainian refugees took refuge at their relatives' places, and all the other refugees were accommodated at temporary accommodation centres (TACs) deployed in the Rostov Region.
