Needy people of Vladikavkaz receive 400 food parcels for the end of Ramadan
Poor residents of Vladikavkaz have received about 400 foodstuff bags in connection with the end of the holy month of Ramadan, the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of North Ossetia has reported today.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the majority of Muslims of Southern Russia began fasting on June 29, when the month of Ramadan (Ramazan) began. The month ends with the holiday Eid ul-Fitr (Uraza Bayram), during which believers lay festive tables; and needy Muslims expect help from their wealthy co-believers.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by the SAM that today over 500 people took part in the holiday namaz prayer in the Sunni mosque of Vladikavkaz. The Mufti of North Ossetia Hadji Murat Gatsalov has wished peace and prosperity to the believers.
On July 27, food parcels were distributed among the poor in the first order. About 400 such parcels were distributed in Vladikavkaz; and several thousands more – in the rest of the republic, said the SAM.
