Stavropol Territory: former investigator sentenced to one year of freedom deprivation for arbitrariness

Andrei Rybasov, a former investigator of the Investigating Department for Kalmykia of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), has been sentenced in the Stavropol Territory to one year in a colony-settlement. He was found guilty of arbitrariness, the ICRF has reported today.

According to investigators, on December 11, 2013, in the city of Yessentuki, Stavropol Territory, two cars collided: the Toyota Corolla, driven in off-duty hours by Rybasov, and a BMW driven by a local resident. Assuming that the BMW driver was responsible for the road accident, as noted by investigators, Rybasov demanded from the local to refund for the cost of repairing of Rybasov's car.

"After presenting his service ID, Rybasov inflicted a few punches on the second participant of the accident and took away his documents. Then, by using physical violence, he forced the victim to write out a receipt for the amount of the repairs, promising to return the documents after the payment," says the today's statement posted on the website of the ICRF.

The former investigator has been found guilty of violent arbitrariness (Part 2, Article 330 of the Russian Criminal Code).
