Batyr Pukhaev is on the 14th day of his hunger strike in Tskhinvali IVS
The South-Ossetian businessman Batyr Pukhaev, who went on a hunger strike on July 16 at the temporary detention facility (known as IVS) of Tskhinvali, is still rejecting nutrition and hospitalization, said the head of the IVS Otar Margiev.
Batyr Pukhaev and his brother Igor Pukhaev, a former MP of South Ossetia, were detained on July 11. On July 14, the Tskhinvali Court ruled to arrest the brothers for two months. They were charged with treason and a putsch attempt; they are suspected of collaboration with the interim administration of South Ossetia created in Tbilisi.
Otar Margiev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that Batyr Pukhaev's hunger strike continues for the 14th day; Batyr was repeatedly offered to get transferred to the Republic's Hospital under supervision of doctors, but he refused, Margiev has added.
According to the brothers' advocate Marina Kochieva, the Pukhaevs' case was transferred for investigation from the Military Prosecutor's Office to the State Security Committee of South Ossetia.
