Rostov Region: border checkpoints "Gukovo" and "Donetsk" are first observation objects for OSCE mission

In the Rostov Region, OSCE observers have announced the beginning of their work at border checkpoints "Gukovo" and "Donetsk". In the coming days, new observers are to join the OSCE mission. This was announced by Paul Picard, the chief of the OSCE mission.

On July 29, Paul Picard and four other observers arrived in Rostov-on-Don. Earlier, eight OSCE observers have crossed the Russian-Ukrainian border through the border checkpoint "Veselo-Voznesenka". The OSCE observers arrived to the Rostov Region to work at the border checkpoints.

It is assumed that the OSCE mission will stay in the Rostov Region during three months. The OSCE observers will be headquartered in the border city of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, 132 km from the city of Rostov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 24, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) announced that in connection with armed incidents near the Russian-Ukrainian border, the OSCE observers would be deployed at checkpoints "Donetsk" and "Gukovo" in the Rostov Region. In turn, the Ukrainian MFA has stated that it insists on the presence of the OSCE observers along the entire Russian-Ukrainian border.
