Authorities of Rostov Region report accommodation of over 40,000 Ukrainian refugees

The Rostov Region has placed 42,669 people, who came from the Ukraine; a third of them are children, report the authorities. The Governor Vasily Golubev notes that the region has exhausted its capacities to accommodate Ukrainian refugees, but continues taking them.

According to the Department of the Russia's Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) for the Rostov Region, the average daily inflow of refugees to the Rostov Region makes 1500-2000 persons.

One of the field temporary accommodation centres (TACs) for refugees is located near the town of Gukovo. The TAC is ready to accommodate up to 500 forced migrants at a time. Here, they are provided with food, medical and psychological support, bath and laundry and informational facilities.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent saw that the refugees in this TAC are given three meals a day. The camp managers report that volunteers and locals help the refugees. According to doctors, most of the refugees arriving from Ukraine are under a strong emotional stress.

According to residents of this TAC, they did not expect such a warm welcome; and they are satisfied with everything – nutrition, living conditions and medical care.
