Chechen residents report on deductions from their salaries for humanitarian assistance to Donbas

In Chechnya, employees of budget organizations have reported on deductions from their salaries and demands to allocate money for humanitarian assistance to the Donetsk and Lugansk Regions of Ukraine, where armed conflict is unfolding.

Arrears of salaries to be paid to employees of budget organizations in Chechnya occur not too rare; however, in July, they were much greater than usually. This was stated by Yusup I., a staff member of the Chechen law enforcement agencies.

"Each my colleague faces a deduction of 5000 roubles from July salary. Some people associate that fact with the government large-scale expenses for the organization of free meals and other events in the month of Ramadan. Others say the money will be used to help Ukraine," Yusup I. has noted.

Each director of any state-owned enterprise was instructed to allocate 100,000 roubles. This was stated by a director of one of a state-owned enterprise who preferred to remain anonymous.

"Last week, we got such an instruction from top-ranking officials. It seems the money will be spent to provide assistance to Ukraine, in particular, Donetsk and Lugansk," he has stated.

Khasan I., a resident of the republic, believes the assistance to refugees is necessary; however, it should not be done at the other people's expense. So, he argues, refugees have privileges in getting job, while the republic faces the problem of acute shortage of jobs.

Officials from the Chechen authorities do not confirm the information.
