In Dagestan, resident of Chumli village of Kaitag District complains against his unlawful detention

On August 4, the Dagestani Regional Public Organization (DRPO) "Pravozaschita" (Advocacy) was addressed by Ustarkhan Murudov, a resident of the village of Chumli of the Kaitag District of Dagestan. He has filed a complaint about his unlawful detention by the police on July 25. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Aisha Selimkhanova, a member of the "Pravozaschita".

"On July 25, 2014, after a night prayer, while I was driving home from Makhachkala in a VAZ-2110 car, I was detained at the south checkpoint by policemen. When I asked them about the reason for my detention, I was answered that I had been wanted for about six months. During all that time, I had been at home and I had been working in Manas. I was engaged in construction works. The policemen called staff members of the patrol-and-post service, and I was brought to the Soviet ROVD (Interior Division)," Ustarkhan Murudov has stated in his complaint.

According to the complainant, the next morning, law enforcers interrogated him, and they accompanied every question by beatings and threats. "At about 3:00 p.m., I was released," Ustarkhan Murudov has stated.

The member of the "Pravozaschita" has reported that in the nearest future, the Ustarkhan Murudov's complaint about the pressure on him from the law enforcers will be sent to the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan.
