Two men killed in shootout in Makhachkala
Two armed men were shot dead by policemen during a shootout today in Makhachkala, the Dagestani MIA reports. An occasional passerby was slightly injured.
According to the MIA, at 4:14 p.m. in Imam Shamil Avenue, a police patrol unit was attacked by two men who used firearms.
Both attackers were killed by return fire and later identified as Magomedgadji Bagamaev, born in 1981, and Kazbek Arslanbekov, born in 1991. They are suspected of collaborating with the armed underground, the RIA "Dagestan" reports referring to a source in law enforcement bodies.
"In April this year they became active members of the 'Makhachkala' grouping," the RIA quotes its source as saying.
