Riziuan Kamgotov exposed to undue harassment by power agents in KBR, his wife says

Fatima Kumykova, the wife of Riziuan Kamgotov, a resident of the village of Lechinkay, Chegem District of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), prosecuted for storing narcotics and explosives, sent a letter to Yuri Kokov, the Acting Head of the KBR, stating that the criminal case against her husband was unjustified.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 1 Riziuan Kamgotov lodged complaints to the Public Prosecutor of the KBR, the head of the Investigating Department for the KBR of the ICRF and the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", stating that he was tortured by law enforcers; and a criminal case of possession of narcotics and explosives was fabricated against him.

In her turn, on August 5, Fatima Kumykova wrote in her aforesaid letter to Yuri Kokov (a copy is at the disposal of the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent) that her husband Riziuan Kamgotov was detained on June 21.

"He told me that he had been tortured with electric current, beaten on his head with plastic bottles filled with water," wrote Fatima Kumykova. Then, according to her story, a grenade and a bag of heroin were planted on her husband.

Currently, the court has ruled to place Riziuan under home arrest for two months, said Fatima Kumykova. She asks Yuri Kokov to deal with her husband's case and "help the justice to prevail."
