Sapiyat Magomedova: resident of Dagestan is illegally kept by police

In Dagestan, advocate Sapiyat Magomedova and her client Rashid Magomedov are being kept without any legal grounds at the Kizilyurt ROVD (District Interior Division). This was reported by the advocate herself.

On August 6, at 6:00 a.m., law enforcers conducted a search in the house of Rashid Magomedov in the village of Komsomolskoe, Kizilyurt District, and found a grenade, Sapiyat Magomedova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

She believes the grenade was planted into Rashid Magomedov's house during the search. After that, according to her story, the owner of the house was brought to the ROVD, where he spent the whole day. "At the ROVD, law enforcers beat Rashid Magomedov up and forced him to take the grenade into his hands," said the advocate.

She added that no indictment had been brought against Rashid Magomedov; however, they both were kept at the ROVD.

In their turn, ROVD agents assert that nobody is preventing Sapiyat Magomedova from leaving the ROVD.

"Rashid Magomedov was brought to the ROVD because a grenade was found during the search of his house. Nobody forces his advocate to stay here. She can leave the ROVD; however, she decided to stay," the officer on duty at the ROVD told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
