Nagorno-Karabakh to send volunteers to contact line with Azerbaijan

Since August 3, units of volunteers recruited from veterans of the Karabakh war are on combat duty jointly with the Defence Army on the contact line with Azerbaijan, said Eduard Khachatryan, the head of the office of the "Union of Azamartiks (Warriors-Liberators) of Artsakh".

He added that quite many volunteers had expressed their intention to go to the frontline; therefore, they will be on duty there in shifts – for 5-6 days. According to Khachatryan, over 1500 veterans will take part in the mission.

"We hold such actions several times a year in order to maintain the morale of our soldiers, to share experiences and, of course, to tell the younger generation about the Karabakh liberation war," said Khachatryan, who is himself now on the border in the Martakert direction with a group of volunteers.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in late July the situation in the conflict zone became strained – the parties to the conflict report about deaths of soldiers on the front lines and sabotage actions in fact on the daily basis.

On August 6, the Defence Army of Nagorno-Karabakh reported a suppression of a diversion act intended by Azerbaijan, during which an Azerbaijani soldier was killed, as well as about violation of the ceasefire by the Azerbaijani party for 370 times on August 5-6. Today, Azerbaijan has accused the Armenian party of shelling its positions for 128 times over the past 24 hours.
