Armenian authorities to conduct own investigation into death of soldier Karen Petrosyan

According to Armen Kaprielyan, a member of the Committee on prisoners of war (POWs) under the Government of Armenia, a criminal case will be instituted to reveal the cause of the death of Karen Petrosyan, and a number of examinations will be appointed. The Armenian side has appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for help in bringing home the soldier's body.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Karen Petrosyan, a resident of the village of Chinari, was captured on August 7. According to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD), he was a member of a subversive group, four other members of which were killed on the same day. On August 8, the Azerbaijani MoD announced that Karen Petrosyan died from acute heart failure.

According to Armen Kaprielyan, the leader of the working group of the Committee on POWs, Hostages and Missing Persons under the Government of Armenia, the Armenian side intends to put into question the conclusion of Azerbaijani doctors.

According to Ilakh Guseinov, the head of the Azerbaijani Department for Public Relations of the ICRC, the ICRC is ready to take part as a neutral mediator in the operation to transport home the body of the Armenian soldier, the "AZE.az" reports.
