Dagestani resident sentenced to two years of imprisonment for involvement in IAF

The Tlyarata District Court has sentenced Akhmed Akhmedov, a resident of the village of Kitlyarata of the Tsuntin District, to two years of imprisonment in a penal colony for involvement in an illegal armed formation (IAF), the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan reports. According to investigators, Akhmed Akhmedov helped militants in finding information.

Investigators have managed to reveal that the defendant joined an IAF in early September 2012.

"His responsibilities included the collection and provision of information to other IAF members on finding individuals, who cooperated with law enforcers, and persons to be used for deliveries of data storage devices containing requirements for money for the IAF's needs. Moreover, Akhmed Akhmedov was to transport, store, and provide the IAF members with an improvised explosive device (IED) and a data storage device with instructions for its activation," reports the website of the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan.
