Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia announce reduction of tension at contact line

After August 9, a decline in the number of violation of the ceasefire is observed on the contact line of the armed forces of the sides involved in the conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh. This was reported by the Ministries of Defence of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 10, at the trilateral meeting of the Presidents of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh held in Sochi, Vladimir Putin, Serzh Sargsyan, and Ilham Aliev stated that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should be solved by peaceful means only.

According to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Nagorno-Karabakh, after August 9, they recorded a decline in the number of cases of ceasefire violation. In particular, on August 11-12, the ceasefire was violated 40 times, and more than 500 shots were fired during this period.

The forces of Nagorno-Karabakh respect the ceasefire and continue to control the border situation, the MoD of Nagorno-Karabakh reports.

The Armenian government has also recorded a decline in the number of cases of ceasefire violation at the contact line.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the increase in tension at the contact line of the armed forces was recorded in late July. Since then, the sides to the conflict almost daily reported deaths of soldiers on the front line and accused each other of sabotage actions.
